More Than a Safe Space
Thrive Independent Services is an HHSC-licensed Individualized Skills and Socialization (ISS) program serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Ellis County, accepting HCS waiver, TxHmL waiver, and private pay.
I've spent my whole career watching what happens when people are only ever cared for and never given the chance to build real skill and independence. While looking for assistance for my brother, who has IDD, I found that same need over and over again — and that's how I developed Thrive, to fill it.
Most programs stop at supervision. Thrive doesn't. Every day here is built around one belief: our clients deserve the opportunity to learn real skills for daily life — communicating, creating, connecting, and getting out into the community — guided by people who understand both clinical care and human dignity. We also offer a safe community for your loved one, so caregivers can go to work or to their own appointments knowing their person is genuinely cared for.
Every room has a purpose — and every purpose builds toward independence.
Home base of the Independent Living Suite — where we help clients build IADLs (instrumental activities of daily living) for real everyday independence.
Part of the Independent Living Suite — cooking, washing, and the real routines of daily life.
Making, creating, and learning through hands-on work.
Hang out with friends, play games, watch TV, be part of the community, and catch a small lesson of the week.
A movie of the day, always playing. Clients are free to watch and join a brief discussion afterward on lessons the movie can teach.
Read books, use the computer under supervision with site parameters, or play game systems with a headset.
A supervised place to go when things feel like too much — space to rest and lower stimulation until ready to rejoin the group.
Clinical care and oversight, always close by.
Beyond Our Walls
Alongside the daily-living skills we build inside Thrive, our clients regularly step out into the community — field trips, local outings, and community-based activities that build confidence beyond our four walls.
“Most programs offer a safe place to spend the day. Thrive was built to do that — and more. Every room, every routine, every outing is designed around one goal: helping our clients live a fuller, more confident life.”— Sherry Williams, BSN, RN, Director
